Call for Abstracts: Water Sciences Pop-Ups session at EGU 2015

If you are attending the EGU General Assembly 2015, we invite you to submit an abstract to the ‘Water Sciences Pop-Ups session’. It is the first year this session will be organized at EGU. Its sister session at the AGU Fall Meeting was successfully (30+ abstracts) organized for the second time in 2014.

Our aim is to provide a platform were (early career) scientists can share their vision with a broad audience within the hydrological sciences. For more information on the session, please contact Tim van Emmerik (t.h.m.vanemmerik@tudelft.nl) or Shaun Harrigan (shaun.harrigan@nuim.ie).

Session Name: HS1.6 Water Sciences Pop-Ups | PICO Session

Description:

In cooperation with the Young Hydrologic Society (https://younghs.com/)

This session provides (early career) scientists the opportunity to give a 5 min TED-like presentation, followed by an interactive PICO poster discussion, on their future vision of water sciences. We offer speakers a platform to share their ideas with fellow scientists and the general public. Presentations should strive to go beyond a condensed form of one’s research to address broader issues like the future of publishing, education and global water scarcity. Visit http://watersciences-popups.blogspot.com/ for notable examples from previous editions of the sister session at AGU.

We specifically encourage students and early career scientists to submit to this session. Selections will be based on abstract and career stage, with the goal of having a diverse range of topics and backgrounds.

Please note that although this session is blocked as a PICO session, oral presentations will be scheduled for 5 minutes (not 2 minutes as with standard PICO sessions). For the interactive discussion part after oral presentations, we ask the authors to be creative: Slides, posters, videos, games, demonstration sets, music, photos, as long as it backs your story it’s allowed!
