YHS-Italy

Aim

The Italian branch of the Young Hydrologic Society (YHS-IT) aims to represent the connection between the early career hydrologists working in Italy and the international association YHS. YHS-IT is linked to the Italian Hydrological Society (Societá Idrologica Italiana, SII), that strongly supports this initiative.

The main goal of the YHS-IT is to strengthen the network among the young hydrologists, by sharing and organizing courses, conferences, activities and opportunities that could be interesting for the early career researchers. A mailing list has been created to share information and promote an active participation in the association. YHS-IT advertises the international events proposed by YHS and organizes specific courses and activities at the national level.

The YHS-IT is born for the early career scientists (MSc students, PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers) of the Italian hydrological scientific community, but it is open to anyone who wants to be involved and contribute to its activities. YHS-IT includes both young researchers from academia and professionals working in the public and private sector, interested in hydrology.

An annual meeting for all the members is the key point to get together, share new ideas and develop possible collaborations. The meeting is planned during the “Italian Hydrology Days” (“Giornate dell’Idrologia”), the national conference organized by the SII.
